- Poor People’s Campaign, Sacramento Meeting 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 9, via Zoom. Join the Sacramento Poor People’s Campaign and the Red, Black, and Green Environmental Justice Coalition for “Restoring Creeks in a River City: Sacramento Urban Creeks Outreach and Capacity-Building Project.” Guest speaker will be Kristan Culbert, associate director of California River Conservation at American Rivers. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
- Wiz Khalifa – “Taylor Gang The World” Tour 7 p.m. Monday, June 9, at Ace of Spades. A night of live music by Wiz Khalifa featuring songs from his new album. Tickets from $83.
- Sac Taco Fest: Battle of the Taco Nominate your favorite taco in Sacramento by June 15. This is a citywide competition where 64 of the best taco spots go head-to-head in a bracket-style showdown voted on by you, the taco lovers of Sacramento. Then, this summer, the battle begins as taquerías face off in weekly matchups until only one champion remains. Think your favorite taco spot has what it takes? Nominate them, vote, and join us for this historic first “Batalla del Taco.”
- LET IT GO, SIS! 6-7:30 p.m. second and fourth Wednesdays monthly, next meeting June 11, at ONTRACK Program Resources, 520 Ninth St. No. 102. This in-house women’s support group for African American/Black women is a curated space to give and receive words of encouragement, motivation and mental and emotional support amongst a collective of Sistahs. Free, attendees must register.
- Live Soul Wednesdays: LSW 8-11:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, at The Lock and Key, 2718 J St. Hosted by Aaron Jones, featuring performances by Joe Archie and The 3-In-1 Band, Emi, Charitte and Valeria Lashon. Tickets are $23.
- Cocktails with the CEOs – A Joint BBB & Chambers of Commerce Mixer 4:30-6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 12, at Burning Barrel Brewing Co., 11210 Sun Center Drive B, Rancho Cordova. This event is for anyone interested in growing their local business connections. Your $20 ticket ensures your spot and one beverage. Day-of tickets at the door are $25. Hosted by the Better Business Bureau Serving Sacramento and Northeast California, the Rancho Cordova Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Greater Arden Chamber of Commerce.
- Author Talk featuring Monica Garner 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 12, at Underground Books. Meet the author as she discusses the inspiration behind her latest work, “Summer on Cape May,” and get your book signed. Fast friends since forever, Lu, Kenya, and Natalia share a deep bond and a special love for the historic beach town of Cape May. As they plan Lu’s upcoming wedding, each woman must confront unexpected twists in her life, from surprise reunions and romantic awakenings to heartbreaking betrayals. Free, attendees must register.
- Suga Free 7 p.m. Thursday, June 12, at Harlow’s. The rapper from Pomona debuted in 1997 with the album “Street Gospel,” which featured collaborations with E-40, Ice Cube and MC Eiht. He since has released several more albums and collaborated with some of the biggest names in hip-hop. Tickets are $40.
- Violence Free In The S.A.C. Concert Series 6-9 p.m. Friday, June 13, at Fruitridge Community Collaborative. Come out for the biggest hip-hop event of the summer. Live performances from M’Ster Lewis, Matthew Balling, Mia Iz Golden, Tey Yanis and Boss Tootie. Hosted by “Hip-Hop After Dark” radio show. Tickets are $23.
- D1 Juneteenth Celebration 6-9 p.m. Friday, June 13, at North Natomas Regional Park. Amazing performers, local vendors, speakers and community organizations. Save the date and come celebrate the incredible importance of this holiday with the District 1 community. Free and open to the public.
- Play Ball Weekend 10 a.m.-Noon Saturday, June 14, at Alyce Norman-Bryte Playfields. They’re throwing a FREE public baseball party for kids ages 6-14, along with their parents and guardians, and you’re invited. Join them for two hours of fun-filled, come-and-go action featuring: Casual games for kids of all ages; Agility drills and skill stations; Baseball challenges and activities; Face painting and balloon artists; Special appearances by local mascots; Music, energy, and a whole lot of team spirit! Attendees must register.
- Juneteenth: The Black Frontier 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, June 14, at Old Town Plaza, 9615 Railroad St., Elk Grove. Get ready to celebrate freedom, culture, and community. They’re turning up the excitement this year with live music, line dancing, local vendors, delicious food and a true rodeo vibe. Free, attendees must have tickets. VIP tickets available for $55.
- Sacramento Pride March & Festival Noon-9 p.m. Saturday and noon-6 p.m. Sunday, June 14-15, at Capitol Mall. Sacramento Pride Weekend events are produced by the Sacramento LGBT Community Center. Our mission is to create a region where LGBTQ+ people thrive. Pride is our largest community engagement event of the year, gathering more than 20,000 people throughout the weekend to celebrate LGBTQ+ arts, culture and activism. Single day tickets are $13; weekend passes are $22.
- 3rd Annual Juneteenth Celebration in North Highlands Noon-4 p.m. Saturday, June 14, at North Highlands Community Center. Bring the whole family! Join an unforgettable day of joy, culture and community in honor of Juneteenth, a powerful celebration of freedom, strength and unity. Live entertainment featuring: internationally acclaimed storyteller Diane Verlette; the electrifying Fenix Drum and Dance Group; powerful spoken word by Poetic Butterfly; groove with Tim McLane and Friends; Sacramento’s Hip-Hop Princess Boss Tootie. - By the People, For the People: A Black Panther Party Celebration Noon-4 p.m. Saturday, June 14, at the California Museum. Join a powerful community event marking the opening of “Revolutionary Grain: Celebrating the Spirit of the Black Panthers,” an exhibition honoring the Black Panther Party’s mission and enduring legacy. Rooted in Northern California history, this day of education, culture and activism offers a unique opportunity to engage with former Black Panther Party members, gain insight into their impact beyond common misconceptions and explore the relevance of their Ten-Point Program today. Tickets are $8.
- 2025 Juneteenth Block Party at 40 Acres 4-9 p.m. Saturday, June 14, at 40 Acres Complex. This vibrant celebration of freedom, culture and community promises live entertainment, delicious food, and activities for all ages. General admission is free. VIP tickets are $55.
- The Crawdad Festival 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-7:30 p.m. Sunday, June 14-15, at Cal Expo. Join a lively celebration of community, music, entertainment and incredible food. Savor authentic Cajun cuisine, including succulent crawfish and a variety of traditional Southern dishes. - CSA 3rd Annual Juneteenth Celebration 2-5 p.m. Sunday, June 15, at the Center for Spiritual Awareness, 1275 Starboard Dr., West Sacramento. This family-friendly Juneteenth event features an afternoon filled with creativity, connection, and community. Activities include a song circle, dancing, poetry, yoga, acting, painting, beading, floral arrangement, and more, all facilitated by experienced professionals. Free and open to the public.
- Dads & Dreads Father’s Day Celebration with Brother G & The Unity Band 2 p.m. Sunday, June 15, at 9426 Greenback Lane, Orangvale. Born in Montego Bay, Brother G moved to the U.S. in the 1980s and eventually made his home in Sacramento, where he sang with ’90s-2000 era reggae bands Urb-n-Fiya, Ohana and the River Jordan Band. Tickets are $20.
- The Black Rodeo 2-9 p.m. Sunday, June 15, at Estate Farms, 6240 Excelsior Road. The Black Rodeo is a Juneteenth celebration in Sac – Black love, unity, DJs, bull rides, soul food and culture. Tickets are $45.
- 30-Year Church Anniversary Featuring Keith Staten 3-6 p.m. Sunday, June 15, at STC The Well Church, 10220 Systems Parkway. Don’t miss this experience with Keith Slaten, a Gospel recording artist, worship leader and former lead vocalist of Commissioned. Tickets are $40.
- John Burris Documentary Screening 5 p.m. Monday, June 16, at The California Museum. Want to learn more about John Burris’ efforts to hold police around the country accountable? Join California Secretary of State Shirley N. Weber, Ph.D., and the California Legislative Black Caucus for an exclusive screening and discussion of the John Burris Documentary film. This 90-minute film explores the extraordinary career of Civil Rights Attorney John Burris, who has spent over four decades challenging police misconduct and fighting for justice. His landmark work includes the Rodney King trial, the Oscar Grant shooting and more than 1,000 other civil rights cases. Free, attendees must register, as space is limited.
