Sacramento State president Dr. Luke Wood was joined by administrators from Sacramento State University Sunday, Nov. 10 as they reached out to Sacramentoโs Black faith community with a visit to Center of Praise Ministries. The effort was done in partnership with the California State University systemโs โSuper Sundayโ initiative. The state-wide effort is practiced by all 23 campuses in the CSU system. After the Super Sunday services, Sac State outreach directors and staff provided information on the university application and admission process, as well as scholarships and financial aid available to students. Center of Praise pastor Bishop Parnell M. Lovelace welcomed Wood and his wife, Dr. Idara Essien-Wood to the pulpit where he and the congregation prayed for the president, his family and staff. In his speech to the Center of Praise congregation, Wood shared that Sac State has more Black students than any other CSU campus. He also spoke of Sac Stateโs Black Honors College, which focuses on students interested in Black history, life and culture.
