Sacramento County’s Behavioral Health Youth Advisory Board (BHYAB) is looking for new youth members ages 14-24. Become a youth board member to represent youth voices for District 1, ran by District 1 County Supervisor, Phil Serna.
By joining the board, you will:
- Suggest ideas to help make a difference within your community for youth behavioral health;
- Meet as a board twice a month at Wind Youth Services to discuss how to create change;
- and earn a $1,500 annual stipend.
What is the BHYAB?
The Behavioral Health Youth Advisory Board is a governing body that offers youth perspective on mental health and substance misuse goals and objectives for Sacramento County.
What is the commitment?
Board members, ages 14-24, are expected to participate 6-8 hours a month. Board members are appointed to a two-year term.
Do I need any experience?
No, all they ask is that you are passionate about mental health or substance misuse and they will teach you along the way.
What would I be doing?
They meet in person twice a month to receive information on behavioral health and brainstorm what needs to be done to make a difference to current policies and systems. Outside of meetings are event opportunities and professional development training.
Looking for less commitment?
Associate member positions provide flexible positions to youth ages 12-26 and have the ability to choose what projects to participate in and are not required to attend all meetings.
