STOCKTON (US MEDIA GROUP) – In a groundbreaking achievement, Lindsey Harding has become the first woman and Black woman to be named the G League Coach of the Year. The Stockton Kings head coach led her team to an impressive 24-10 record, earning the top seed in the Western Conference.

Harding, who joined the Stockton Kings as head coach in 2023, has proved herself as a top strategist and leader in the league. Under her guidance, the Kings have dominated the competition, securing the best record in the G League. This year’s success is a testament to Harding’s determination and dedication to the game.

The 37-year-old former WNBA player and assistant coach for the Sacramento Kings is no stranger to breaking barriers. In addition to being the first woman and Black woman to win the G League Coach of the Year Award, Harding was also the first woman to be hired as a full-time scout for an NBA team, the Philadelphia 76ers, in 2018.

Before her coaching career, Harding had a successful playing career, most notably at Duke University where she was named the Naismith College Player of the Year in 2007. She was also the first overall pick in the 2007 WNBA draft by the Phoenix Mercury.

The Stockton Kings’ success under Harding’s leadership has earned them a first-round bye in the G League playoffs. They will begin their playoff journey on Thursday at the Adventist Health Arena.
