- Single Mom Strong: Holiday Adopt-A-Family – Applications open through Nov. 8. They understand how hard it can be to enjoy the holidays when you are barely making ends meet on a single income, so they do their best to make the holiday season a bit happier for families led by single mothers. Adopted families typically receive a holiday meal, a gift for mom and multiple items of โneedโ and โwantโ for each child. You will be notified by Dec. 4 if your family has been selected.
- Causeway Classic Blood Drive – 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Wednesday, Nov. 6-8, at Sacramento Stateโs University Union Ballroom. As a thank you, all participants will receive a free Sac State Causeway Classic Blood Drive T-shirt. Appointments encouraged. Walk-ins may be accommodated on a limited basis.
- Ainโt Too Proud – The Life and Times of The Temptations – 7:30 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday and 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 7-12, at SAFE Credit Union Performing Arts Center. Experience the incredible story of the legendary oldies group as told through song and dance. Tickets from $60.ย
- UC Davis MIND Institute Distinguished Lecturer Series: Camille Proctor – 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, at UC Davis MIND Institute. Proctor, a leading autism advocate, will focus on the foundationโs programs that are tailored to the needs of racially and ethnically diverse communities, helping parents with resources and advocacy for their autistic children. Free and open to the public.
- Paints and Ice Cream at Leatherby’s – 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, at Leatherbyโs Family Creamery in Arden. Let your youngins release their inner artist while Young at the Arts founder Liz Harrington guides them step by step in creating their own fall masterpiece. This painting uses both sea sponges and paint brushes. No age limit and no drop-offs. Tickets are $21.
- Bone Thugs-N-Harmony – 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, at Ace of Spades. You wonโt want to miss this legendary night of hip-hop with Bizzy Bone, Wish Bone, Layzie Bone, Krayzie Bone and Flesh-n-Bone. Tickets from $45.
- Veeze: The Ganger Tour – 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, at Harlowโs. Coming out of the Michigan rap scene, he released one of his biggest singles, โGOMD,โ in 2023. He has featured with many artists including Babyface Ray, Lil Uzi Vert and Lil Yacthty. Tickets from $25.
- Free Dental Event – 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, at Marisol Village Community Center. Dental screenings, fluoride varnish, dental kits, dental referrals and oral health education. Free and open to the public.ย
- Holiday Comedy Fundraiser – 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, at Laughs Unlimited Comedy Club. Give the gift of toys! Bring new, unwrapped toys for underserved kids (grades K-6). Featuring a headlining performance from Aaron Edwards Hall. Tickets are $25.
- Life, Love and Business with Kwame Anku – 6-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, at the Carlsen Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Join Metro EDGE and Anku, the Sacramento Metropolitan Chamber of Commerceโs 2022 Entrepreneur of the Year, for a fireside chat about entrepreneurship, resilience and mindset. Attendees should come with questions and interest in personal and professional development. Tickets are $25.
- Noname – 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, at Ace of Spades. Donโt miss this solo show by the rapper, poet and record producer who is one-third of supergroup Ghetto Sage. She also since 2019 has run the Noname Book Club, which focuses on radical texts by authors of color. Tickets from $35.ย
- Ruben and Clay: Twenty Years, One Night – 7:30 Friday, Nov. 10, at Harris Center. Ruben Studdard and Clay Aiken are thrilled to reunite 20 years after captivating audiences during their historic run on the second season of Foxโs โAmerican Idol.โ Due to overwhelming demand, the multiplatinum recording artists are hitting the road again for the second leg of their reunion tour. Tickets from $65.
- Sacramento ZERO Prostate Cancer Run/Walk – 8-11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at William Land Park Village Green. Celebrate prostate cancer survivors and caregivers and honor those that have been lost to the disease at this family-friendly event. There will be fun kids activities, including a special Kids Superhero Dash for Dad, to get everyone involved.
- 2023 Sacramento Championships – 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at Wyndham Sacramento. Contestants will have the chance to compete in seven categories. Contestant entry fee is $160. Tickets from $25.
- Rancho Cordova Veteranโs Day Support Drive – 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at Rancho Cordova City Hall. For Veterans Day, those in uniform will be honored by a spectacular installation of more than 500 American flags, waving along more than three miles of Folsom Boulevard, right through the heart of Rancho Cordova. Free and open to the public.
- The Shawn Raiford Experience – 7 p.m. Saturday Nov. 11, at Celebration Arts. The show also features Davina Song Byrd. Grab your tickets now for high-energy and infectious grooves that will leave you toe-tappinโ and rocking for days afterward. The VIP package includes a ticket to an upcoming performance in the Celebration Arts 2024 โBlack Girl Magicโ theater season. Tickets from $40.
- Vibrate Higher: Sacramento Unity Drumming Circle – 3:30-6:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, at Estate Farms. This event celebrates culture, promotes unity, therapeutic values and healing properties through nature, drumming, dancing, song, family and community. Free and open to the public.
- Blues Jam Sunday Sessions – 4-10 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, at Torch Club. Enjoy a drink while listening to some groovy tunes performed by Sacramento artists. Free and open to the public.
- The Stoop presents: โCommonโ – 5-8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, at Celebration Arts. Created and produced by Jalen Tyreโ, this musical speaks on gun violence and its impact on everyday people in the 916 to bring you a family-friendly purposeful musical, created and produced here in Sacramento. Tickets from $15.
- Stephon Clark Sundays – 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, at 5940 Rosebud Lane. Community potluck, open mic, guest speakers, game room, movement museum and library. Stephon Clark Sundays seek to connect the community to the movement and commemorate his life and legacy in a positive light. Free and open to the public.
