  1. Ryan Davis – 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9, at Punch Line. Come out for a night of laughs with Ryan Davis, who has appeared on shows such as “Insecure,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and “All Def Comedy.” Tickets from $25.
  2. Victoria Monét: The Jaguar Tour – 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9, at Ace of Spades. Monét has worked with many artists, including Ariana Grande, Nas and T.I., so don’t miss this opportunity to see her perform hits from her latest album. Tickets from $75.
  3. When Art and Poetry Collide – 2-7 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays, and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturdays, Oct. 9-21, at the Mills Station Arts and Culture Center. This free exhibit calls on local artists and poets to come together and celebrate each other’s work.
  4. Jalen Ngonda – 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10, at Harlow’s Starlet Room. Ngonda is a 28-year-old soul artist with a captivating, elegant voice. If you’re an oldies or Motown fan, you’ll want to catch this performance. Tickets from $18. 
  5. The Original Wailers feat. Al Anderson – 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10, at Harlow’s. Anderson is best known for his Grammy-nominated work with Bob Marley and the Wailers. The Original Wailers include Chet Samuel (lead vocals/guitar), Omar Lopez (bass), Paapa Nyarkoh (drums), and Adrian AK Cisneros (keyboards and organ). Tickets from $35.
  6. Chamber Breakfast – 8-9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, at East Sacramento Chamber of Commerce. This breakfast meeting features business and estate planning with Kellie Chrisman and Andrea Crettol. This is a great way to network with fellow East Sacramento business owners and visitors. Tickets from $15.
  7. West Sacramento Blood Drive – 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, at City Hall. Appointments to donate can be made online. Be sure to bring your I.D., eat well and drink plenty of water before donating. Donating blood can save up to three lives.
  8. 2023 Oak Park Black Film Festival – 5-9 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 11-15, at the Guild Theater. This five-day celebration of African-American stories and history through cinema showcases independent feature, documentary and short films by African American filmmakers, along with panel discussions and exclusive events. Single-day tickets from $15; all-access VIP tickets from $100.
  9. Mind, Body, Money: The Power of Emotional Wellness and Holistic Health – 6-7:30 p.m, Wednesday, Oct. 11, at 225 30th St. Discover how nurturing your mind and body can positively impact your financial well-being. Speakers include Lynnis Woods-Mullins, holistic living and wellness expert, and Anita R. Johnson, financial behaviorist. Tickets from $100.
  10. EST Gee: El Toro Tour – 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, at Harlow’s. Kentucky-based rapper EST Gee came onto the scene in 2017 and since has gained popularity, working with the likes of 42 Dugg, Lil Baby, Yo Gotti, Future and Moneybagg Yo. Tickets from $30.
  11. Comedy Night feat. Erik Clark, Kabir Singh and Jeremy Curry – 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, at University Union Ballroom at Sacramento State. You don’t want to miss this free-comedy event, open to the public. Free parking atop parking structure 3. 
  12. Reggae Yoga – 7:30-9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, at Her Elevated. Join Larraine as she guides a unique yoga experience. Escape from the hustle bustle and connect with yourself on your own little island. Please bring a mat. Class will begin with yoga and end with a meditation and sound bath. Tickets from $25.
  13. Fixins and Beer – 4-6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13, at Fixins Soul Kitchen. This beer-pairing event features pairings and a tasting guided by Celeste Beatty of Harlem Brewing and Marcus Baskerville of Weathered Souls Brewing. All tickets include a pass to the Oak Park Black Film Festival immediately after the pairing. Tickets from $50.
  14. Halloween Party at Lake Crest Village – 4:30-6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13, at Lake Crest Village Shopping Center. Get ready for a frightfully fun evening filled with costumes, candy and creepy delights. Prepare to be amazed by ghoulish decorations, pumpkin carving, crafts and chilling surprises. Free and open to the public.
  15. Summer Concert Series: Clean Slate – 7-10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13, at the Officer’s Club. A night of free music and fun featuring Clean Slate. ​The band is composed of 10 professional musicians dedicated to delivering a high-energy show.
  16. Buffalo Soldier Flapjack Fundraiser – 8-10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at Applebee’s, 2024 Arden Way. Come have a delicious breakfast for a worthy cause – helping deserving youth achieve their dreams of higher education. Breakfast includes pancakes, syrup, butter, scrambled eggs, sausage, orange juice and coffee. Tickets are $10.
  17. 12th Annual Expanding Your Horizons STEM Conference – 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at Sacramento State. This science and math conference is designed to encourage and empower young women (sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade girls) to pursue education and careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Tickets are $30.
  18. Allensworth Celebration – 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at Col. Allensworth State Historic Park via Amtrak San Joaquin. More than a century ago, Col. Allen Allensworth and four other settlers established a town founded, financed and governed by African Americans – a place where hard work, dedication and faith would allow them and their children the opportunity to control their own discrimination-free destiny.
  19. Peoples Beer Fest – 2-7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, on Third Avenue. Oak Park Brewing Co. hosts its annual block party, California’s largest Black beer festival, to celebrate diversity in beer and support Black brewers throughout the U.S. There will be breweries, wineries, cideries, live art and music, as well as special deals offered at local restaurants to encourage attendees to explore the historic district. Tickets from $50.
  20. Making Strides Against Breast Cancer – 7-11 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 15, at Hornet Stadium. Come out and walk with the community to fight breast cancer. No registration fee, all funds raised will help the American Cancer Society to continue to fund breast cancer research and programs.
