  1. Vocal Techniques with Miranda D. Lawson – 5-7 p.m. Mondays, Sept. 4, through Oct. 2, at the Sacramento Theatre. This vocal techniques class is for all levels and will teach you about vocal health, anatomy, how to belt, how to find songs that are right for you and the fundamentals and building blocks of singing. Lawson studied for her BFA in Music with a concentration in Musical Theatre at Jacksonville University.
  2. BTS Basketball Academy Skills & Drills – 5:30-8:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and Sundays, Sept. 4, through Sept. 27, at 24 Hour Fitness in Citrus Heights. For new and experienced players. The academy will improve basketball skills while also making training with friends a fun, positive and encouraging environment. BTS has partnered with NBA players like Chris Paul and others to create a process for young athletes to improve their shooting, defense, ball handling and basketball IQ.
  3. 50 Cent: The Final Lap Tour – 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 4, at Golden 1 Center. Donโ€™t miss this opportunity to watch hip-hop, rap legends, 50 Cent, Busta Rhymes and Jeremih as they perform some of their greatest hits. Tickets starting at $45.
  4. Professional Development: Resume Building – 1-2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, at Womenโ€™s Wisdom Art. This workshop is for any women looking to build resume writing skills in any field. No draft or electronic device required, but welcomed.
  5. Success Club for Young Men – 7-8:15 p.m. every first Wednesday, starting Sept. 6, at Lamppost Pizza on Laguna Blvd. Hosted by Terry Moore, this event is for young men aged 12-19, who want to be successful, are willing to learn and are open to mentoring. There will be food provided, as well as discussions about education, roadmaps to success, developing legacy and avoiding sabotage.ย 
  6. Summer Block Party Concert – 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8, at the Toyota Pavilion at Concord. Donโ€™t miss the opportunity to see R&B legends, Jodeci, SWV and Dru Hill as they perform their classics. Lawn seating starting at $30.
  7. The Community Summit on Homelessness – 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, at First United Methodist Church. This event aims to bring together unhoused people, activists and advocates for strategic planning with a special focus on Black, Brown and Indigenous communities, showcasing community organizations and organizing resource providers to table the event. There will be workshops with local leaders and organizations to build unity, fighting capacity and vision with and on behalf of the unhoused community.
  8. Broadway International Festival 3rd Annual Block Party – 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, on Broadway. This event will showcase global cuisine, a mesmerizing fashion show, captivating live music and culturally rich performances by local artists. Explore the unique multicultural marketplace, where vendors will offer a variety of crafts and treasures from around the world.
  9. Crawfish & Catfish Festival 2023 – 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 9 and 10, at Southside Park. Bringing New Orleans to Sacramento, this festival is the ultimate Louisiana food and music experience. It features the authentic sounds, sights and tastes of Louisiana with Southern BBQ, and Asian/Cajun Fusion cuisine.
  10. St. Anthony Parish Community & Cultural Food Festival – 12-8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, at St. Anthony Parish. There will be games and activities for all ages: bingo, wine and cake spins, books, shops, garden materials and childrens games. Also, international foods like Filipino, Polish, Mexican, Nigerian, Greek, Hawaiian, Paella, hamburgers & hot dogs, ice cream, desserts and snow cones.
  11. “BARZ UP” Cypher and Rap Battle – 12-6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, at Oak Park Brewing Co. Come out and enjoy some of hip-hops finest talent as they battle to win the title belt, $500, studio time and a music video. The event features Zhey The Illest & Losie Theboat. There will be celebrity judges, food, live entertainment, domino tournaments and vendors.
  12. Women’s and Men’s Ministry Movie Matinee – 2-4:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, at St. Paul Church of Sacramento. Join them for a showing of the inspiring movie Jesus Revolution. Hosted by the Women’s and Men’s Ministry, this cinematic experience aims to touch your heart and ignite your faith.
  13. NorCal Film Expo – 12-9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, at Camera Kitchen Rentals. This event aims to showcase innovative services specifically designed for filmmakers in the region. It provides a platform for networking and collaboration among filmmakers, industry professionals and service providers.
  14. Holo Holo Music Festival – 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 9 and 10, at the Toyota Amphitheater.ย  This reggae and island music festival will feature performances from Kolohe Kai, J Boog, Fiji, Steel Pulse, Common Kings, Rebel Souljahz and many more.ย 
  15. John F. Kennedy High School Class of 1973 50th Reunion – 5:30-10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, at Sacramento Elks Lodge. There will be appetizers, a buffet dinner, dessert, a no host bar, dancing to East Wind Band, a photo booth and much more. Suggested attire is dressy casual with 70’s inspired clothing optional.
  16. Dave Koz & Friends: Summer Horns 2023 – 6-10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, at the Quarry Park Amphitheater. This high-octane, feel-good summer show returns with a fresh incarnation of the Summer Horns tour, which will find the chart-topping saxophonist Koz teaming up with two other sax greats, Candy Dulfer and Eric Darius.ย 
  17. RCAA Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony – 6-9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, at Rancho Cordova City Hall. During this gala event, Rancho Cordova sports legends will take their rightful place in the hearts and minds of the community, enshrined forever in the Rancho Cordova Sports Hall of Fame.
  18. Poet Terry Moore with Live Band LSB – 7:30-9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, at Celebration Arts. Moore is known for his spellbinding poetry, energetic stage performance and positive vibe. This event will feature topics about having confidence in parenting, life, love and creating change in the community.ย 
  19. Beginnerโ€™s Jazz Dance – 5:30-7:30 p.m. Sundays, Sept. 10, through Oct. 15, at the Sacramento Theatre. Learn the fundamentals and building blocks of Jazz dance taught by Lisa Dillon. Dillon has been involved in the dance world for the majority of her career and has taught many styles, at many dance studios and is immersed in the competitive dance world.
  20. Xavier Omรคr – 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 10, at Harlowโ€™s. Donโ€™t miss the opportunity to see R&B/Soul artist, Xavier Omรคr, as he performs his classic songs like Blind Man, Deep End and Feelings 4 You.ย ย
