Roberts Family Development Center (RFDC), a leading organization committed to promoting social justice and equity in education, announced that the organization has hired modern-day freedom riders from across the nation to work at its Freedom School program. The program aims to provide students with access to alternative educational resources and support, while promoting African American history and culture.
The freedom riders, who come from diverse backgrounds and regions across the nation, bring a wealth of experiences and perspectives to Freedom School. They’re passionate about advancing social justice causes and are committed to empowering students to engage in community organizing and activism.
“We are thrilled to welcome modern-day freedom riders from across the nation to our team at Freedom School,” Derrell Roberts said. “Their dedication and commitment to social justice aligns with our mission, and we believe that they will make a tremendous impact on our students and the communities we serve.” We are delighted to have formed a new partnership with universities to find and secure these freedom riders.”
The university partnerships are with Chapman University, Southern University New Orleans, Xavier University, Dillard University and many more.
The hiring of freedom riders is part of RFDC’s ongoing efforts to create safe and inclusive spaces for all students. The Freedom School program provides academic support, leadership development, and cultural enrichment to students who may face systemic barriers to education and success.
